What We Believe
- Pleasant Street Congregational Church of Arlington, Massachusetts, welcomes the membership and participation of all people who seek to know and love God. We affirm the God-given worth and dignity of every individual, and we support all loving relationships and families of all kinds. We believe that people of every age, physical or mental ability, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious background, and socio-economic or marital status are equal in the eyes of God, and as such they are welcome in this congregation.
In Jesus, God’s love came alive in human form, to enable us to have a stronger connection with God.
Jesus never really meant to establish an institution; he wanted all people to love one another and to work for justice and peace.
God’s Spirit can and does still touch us and our world.
The Bible is precious to us as our most basic faith resource. It was written by many human authors who were inspired by God.
The church must be open, inclusive, affirming of all people, and able to change.
Jesus invited people to come together to care for and
support one another, and to help those beyond their own communities.
Prayer works! We may not always get what we asked for, but in some mysterious way we get what we need.
Asking questions is far more important than having right answers.
Fun, relaxation, laughter, and a touch of irreverence all belong in church!
