Worship with Us
At Pleasant St. Church, we feel that it’s up to us to make you welcome and comfortable. We want you to be able to experience the great music, uplifting messages, friendly people and relaxed atmosphere that are part of the church. We know that your first time as a guest at church, no matter what church, may raise some questions for you. How do I get there and where do I park... what should I wear… what will the people and the service be like? Here’s a quick overview of what you can expect.
Once you’ve arrived at the church, you’ll be greeted by friendly,
smiling faces. The greeters will be happy to direct you to the worship space,
or to anything else you might need before the service begins. If you’d
like to introduce your children to the teachers of their Sunday School class,
the greeters will introduce you to a person who can help.
People generally gather in the sanctuary for worship anytime between 10 minutes before the hour and a few minutes after. There is music playing while we greet one another informally and get settled in our seats. We try to begin with our announcements right at 10:00.
The service includes music, prayers, Bible readings, and time for both reflection and sharing. There is a special time for the children and youth to come forward and engage with a leader in a fairly informal moment of reflection. Following that, they go to Sunday School together with their teachers. Parents are welcome to accompany their children.
The reflection and message are
focused on connecting our everyday lives with faith and with the Bible.
We hope that what
you hear on Sunday will be useful during the week, and will bring you hope
and joy. Most of all, we want to help you feel a sense of connection
with God, who loves us all, and with a friendly supportive community
of faith.
As you can tell by now, we know that you are looking for a place that you and your children can feel comfortable, safe and welcome. You can wear clothing that is comfortable for you – some of our folks wear suits and dresses, but many wear jeans and casual shirts. You can feel assured that your children will find that Sunday School is a welcoming place to learn.
And whenever anyone has questions or concerns, all of us here are eager to listen and help.
